Thor Heyerdahl
The Pyramids of Güímar are closely related to Thor Heyerdahl, the famous Norwegian explorer and ethnographer. Heyerdahl became interested in the site in the early 1990s and proposed that the pyramids were not just agricultural terraces, as previously thought, but instead had cultural and historical significance.
He suggested that the pyramids could be linked to ancient civilizations and maritime cultures, similar to those he studied in other parts of the world.
His involvement brought international attention to the site and led to the establishment of the Ethnographic Park to further research and preserve the pyramids.
